MISSION

"The mission of the Alskan Native Sports Association is to offer a transitional commitment that provides new ways to connect all one nation people of Native heritage".

For 25 years the Alaskan Native Sports Association has been assisting in the efforts to provide oppotunity for native youth and young adults in the Alaska region. We understand the need for native based activities, young people want outlets to escape the sometimes harsh realities of Alaskan living. We host many basketball tournements throughout the year, since the youth love the game of basketball we use their desire to play as an incentive.

The goal of ANSA is to create cultural awareness for all natives across the country, by linking local groups together and tackling the issues together, as one united front. We are passionate about keep traditional living alive for future generations. It is too often heritage is lost to city living and and desires of the world. We need to re-affirm our relationship with the spirit realm and nature, the way our anscestors did it. We need to learn from our Elders . This is what the Cultural Exchange Commitment is all about.

Family

We offer services that promote family togetherness. Oppose to singling out just one member of the family, we cater to the whole unit. This is to prevent weak links that can be damaging to the structure of the household.

Tradition

Preserving our native traditions are very important. We must work hard to make sure that our traditional art, language hunting and fishing are still relevant for the futures of our children.

Sports

There is no dening the many benifits of sports, fitness, teamwork, mental toughness and many more. This is why basketball has been the core of program for 25 years it keeps the interest of the youth and young adults. It brings out the families and tournements make for great fundraisers to support our other endevors.
